Bio-Box is an innovative organic kitchen waste collection system. It is patented by IBI PLAST and consists of a ventilated container like Bio∙Box 7L or Ibi∙Box 10 L bins, plus special biodegradable and compostable breathable liners.

Among its many advantages is that the whole system “breathes”, allowing moisture to escape naturally from the waste.
Its special lid allows air to pass through when closed.
Even with a large quantity of wet organic waste, the Bio∙Box and Ibi∙box system keeps working to capacity.
Without this unique process, water collects at the bottom of the box, often causing the bag to break. The Bio∙Box and Ibi∙box system can even be kept under the kitchen sink, as there are absolutely no odors generated.
Laboratory tests carried out on the performance of the Bio∙Box system showed remarkable results in weight and volume reduction through this natural drying process.

The tests were carried out in a controlled environment at 30°C and with a humidity level kept constant at 70-80%. Various samples of mainly wet mixed organic waste were used, with a weight of 1500g and a composition in keeping with what a typical family would collect (uncooked and cooked waste, citrus fruits, paper serviettes, etc.). The results demonstrated that, after only three days (the average time wet biowaste remains in the family home before being collected), content weight loss was more than 25%. The Bio∙Box system also did not suffer from those problems encountered (bags breaking, odors, condensate in the bottom of the bin) when using conventional food waste collection systems with closed wall bins.
